Comedy TikTok
A TikTok that taps into followers' empathy
For TikTok, Ayo wanted something different from what it posts on Instagram. We told the story through a newly hired community manager who asks followers for help to keep the job.

The brief
The starting point
Ayo wanted its TikTok to look different from its Instagram. Manu, the manager, loves TikTok culture: we were asked for something different and sent a few videos from the platform as inspiration.
The work
What we did
- 1We started with what Manu likedWe watched the videos we were sent and developed an idea we thought could work for the beach restaurant.
- 2A new community manager asking for helpWe wanted people's empathy, which goes a long way on social media. So the story is told by a newly hired community manager asking followers for help: “People, I lied on my CV and they've hired me to run this beach restaurant's social media. Give it a like so I don't get fired.”
- 3Deliberately badWe played up that rookie role with a deliberately bad video: sped-up footage of the beach restaurant, weird music (from Borat) and a crocodile dancing over every shot.
- 4With the restaurant in full swingIt all comes from Ayo's day-to-day: paella over the wood fire, prawns, the bar and full tables.
The TikTok, shot by shot
Stills from the video: the new community manager arrives at the beach restaurant and the crocodile dances everywhere.
The beach restaurant
Where it all happens: Ayo's beach restaurant on Burriana beach, in Nerja.
- 5.4MViews on TikTok
The result
What we achieved
The formula worked wonders: 5.4 million views on TikTok, plus interaction from big brands such as Ubisoft and from creators with more than 1.5 million followers. And Ayo launched its own voice on TikTok, different from the one on Instagram.
